How to download Instagram videos and Reels on iPhone

Use Safari to download a public video, find it in the Files app and, when available, save it to Photos. You do not need to install a downloader app.

The short route

Copy the Reel link → paste it into InstaHub.me → prepare the video → choose Download MP4 → find the file in Downloads. Previewing a video on the website and saving it to your phone are separate steps.

Before you start

Choose a Reel or video post you created or have permission to download. It must be public and accessible without signing in to Instagram. A post you can watch through your own Instagram account may still be unavailable to the downloader.

InstaHub.me runs in your browser without an InstaHub account or your Instagram password. Keep enough storage available on your phone and maintain your connection until the transfer finishes.

Download the video in Safari

  1. Copy the individual post link. Open the Reel or post and look for Copy link in Instagram’s sharing menu. If you are already using the Instagram website, copy the address of the individual post from the browser bar. A profile address does not identify a video.
  2. Open InstaHub.me in Safari. If a link opened in another app’s built-in browser, open Safari and visit the Instagram downloader. Paste your link into the input field.
  3. Confirm your permission. Select the content-permission checkbox and choose Download free. Wait for the result instead of repeatedly submitting the same link while retrieval is in progress.
  4. Choose Download MP4. When the preview appears, check that it shows the video you intended to save. Use the button below the preview to open a temporary tab that prepares the file.
  5. Finish saving. Confirm the download if Safari asks. Allow the transfer to finish before looking for the file. Watching the preview does not mean the video is already saved on your phone.

Where downloaded Instagram videos go on iPhone

Open the Files app and look for Downloads. Apple describes the route Browse → iCloud Drive → Downloads. If you chose another download location, check that folder instead. Safari also has a Downloads button next to the search field that opens the download list. Apple’s download instructions.

InstaHub files have names beginning with instagram- and ending in .mp4. Search for that prefix or sort your files by date when your Downloads folder contains many items. Open the file to check that the video plays correctly.

Save the video to Photos

A video can already be downloaded in Files without appearing in Photos. Open the MP4 in Files, choose Share and, if available for that video, select Save Video. Then check your library in Photos.

If that option is unavailable, you can still play the file from Files, share it with a compatible app or transfer it to your computer. You do not need to download it again simply because it does not appear in Photos.

If the download does not start

If InstaHub says the video is unavailable, check the link and whether the post can be accessed publicly. If a preview appears but saving fails, check your connection and available storage. The temporary download tab also offers a link to retry the direct download.

Use the Instagram download troubleshooting guide to distinguish invalid links from temporary restrictions. Button names and locations can vary with your versions of iOS, Safari and Instagram.
